MTH 497 – An Introduction to Deep Learning

Mathematics, the Great Wall and the Forbidden City

This three-week summer program offers a unique opportunity for Penn State undergraduates to fulfill a 400-level course requirement for Math majors while studying alongside local students at the world-renowned Peking University in Beijing, China. The attached course will cover advanced topics in mathematics, with specific topics to be determined by the teaching faculty each year; summer 2020’s program will offer an introductory course on Deep Learning. In addition to mathematics coursework, students will enjoy cultural activities and field trips to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

Prerequisite(s): Familiarity with linear algebra (MATH 220) and multi-variable calculus (MATH 230 or 231) and some experience with computer programming.
